Consumption of Argon and Helium in Welding Increases Demand for Industrial Gases

Industrial gases play a prominent role in carrying out industrial operations. The industrial application of these gases may vary significantly. It involves numerous projects, supply methods, and other solutions for industrial gases application. 

Industrial gases can be defined as manufactured gases, that emerged from the air, nitrogen, argon, and other rare sources such as carbon dioxide, helium, and hydrogen. They are either utilized in pure or mixed form for medical or industrial applications. Thus, it improves industrial efficiency and reduces the carbon footprint with improved work conditions. 

One of the major application areas for industrial gases is the aeronautical sector. This gas is utilized in the manufacturing of aeronautical parts, including support and maintenance of the framework. It includes treatment of materials, welding, heat treatment, and inflation of pneumatic tires.

Nitrogen

Nitrogen is widely utilized in the automotive and food & beverage sector. In the automotive sector, it is highly utilized in heat treatments, welding processes, cutting and surface coatings, and others. Similarly, in the food industry, gas is utilized at varying stages of packaging and processing, including the transportation of food products.

Inert Gases 

Argon is present in the air that we breathe, and it is extracted by forced distillation, while helium is extracted through methane. These inert gases are only gases that emerge naturally, and hence they are expensive as compared to the Xeno,n, Crypto, and Neon. These gases are utilized in the MIG and TIG welding. 

Argon is used to weld non-ferrous metals, it does not mix effectively during the welding process with the molten pool, and it limits the blowholes inside by alleviating the micro-pores. 

Oxygen

By utilizing the electrolysis process, oxygen is extracted from water, and fraction distillation is utilized for its extraction from the air. Oxygen can be combined with numerous natural elements, and it serves as an ideal additive in the blends of helium and argon. In addition, oxygen cannot be combined with inert gases. 

Therefore, industrial gases are highly utilized to carry out the industrial processes and hence keep the operations ongoing and cater to the requirement of people and thus improve the life standards of mankind.
